Our research focuses on wireless communications and next-generation mobile communication systems, including Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) and satellite communication systems, wireless QoS protocols, wireless resource management, mobility management, network performance modeling, and full-duplex MAC protocols for WLAN systems. In particular, we focus on next-generation wireless networking technologies such as 5G/6G mobile communication systems, broadband wireless systems, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems, and military communication systems.
Our research covers not only traditional layer-oriented approaches but also cross-layer techniques. To evaluate the performance of the developed technologies and schemes, we design end-to-end network architectures and conduct system-level simulations and performance analyses using various tools, including Riverbed Modeler, Network Simulator 3 (ns-3), and MATLAB. Based on these research capabilities, we also investigate AI-enabled intelligent wireless networks and next-generation communication technologies.
In the area of standardization, we conduct research related to international standards, including 3GPP, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, and ETSI DVB-S2/RCS. In particular, we actively pursue 3GPP-related standardization research and the development of Standard-Essential Patents (SEPs) for next-generation mobile communication technologies.
